I created this game to help my students practice rounding numbers to the tens and hundreds place. I wanted to put a bit more strategy into a game that also allows the students to practice their rounding while making game-play decisions. The game will require a demonstration before it can be properly played.
Here is quick overview:
The game plays best with two players, but three players will also work. A player begins their turn by rolling three dice. He/She chooses how to arrange the rolled digits to make a single number (this is part of the strategy). That number is then rounded to the tens or hundreds place, if possible, using the numbered cards in play. The students earn points each time they round to the tens or hundreds place. The challenging part is trying to round multiple times in one turn (it is possible with the way the game is set up).
The game is "Hero" themed and has some extra, fun cards thrown in to encourage more strategic play. It is simple enough to learn but complex enough to have the students wanting to play more and become a better player!
This contains all cards needed to play and detailed instructions. What it does not contain are the three ten-sided dice needed to play (three six-sided dice can be used but the numbers created will be more limited).
I appreciate any feedback, positive or not. I would like to know what you think. Thanks and enjoy!
