Use these colorful, fun cards in your CLASSROOM or in your SCHOOL LIBRARY to give students practice at estimating. Add pizzazz to your "estimation jar” activities this spring, or plant a new eye-catcher at your library checkout desk. Either way, the students are the winners - they won't be able to resist trying to estimate the number of objects in the jar!
Fill a jar with objects, then print and place a colorful Tent Card next to it to give instructions. Copy an Estimation Card for each student (printed 10 per page), and place with pencils in a basket near the jar. After the guessing is finished, students may count the objects by 2's, 3's, 5's and 10's, then graph their colors or sizes. Provide a small prize for the winning guesser, such as a bookmark, pencil, or the jar of objects.
This kit includes a PDF printable file of Tent Cards and matching Estimation Cards for jelly beans, colored mini-marshmallows, silk flowers, Easter eggs, and seeds of your choice.
