This is an introduction activity I used in my High School Marine Biology Class. Students focus on animal adaptations and create a fictional animal that will adapt to the mystery biome characteristics. Students work in lab groups to do the activity and present their creations at the end of the period. This leads into a class lecture on Estuary Biomes and animal adaptations. Focal points include how animals adapt to salt water, changing salinities, and strong tidal currents.
You will receive a 5 page file in Word, so you may adapt it to your class. It makes a 4 page student booklet. There is a page with student intro/instructions. A page for students to draw. A page for written reflection. And the back page to glue into their notebook. Then I have a page with the teacher note.
