This is a workbook I created to teach about difference and tolerance. It is appropriate for k/grade 1 and is great because you can use it in a bunch of multidisciplinary ways. The actual download is better quality than the preview (I had to scale down to fit TpT size requirement)
The workbook starts with a story. There are a bunch of children listing something unique about themselves (e.g: I have blue eyes, I am tall, I cover my hair). I've included some cultural and ethnic minorities as well. The story ends with "but we are all special". This prompts a classroom discussion about what makes each student in the class special. There is then a coloring section, where students can do a self portrait.
Each page also includes some icons of animals, objects, etc. Teacher can have students identity these icons, building and testing vocabulary. Students can also work on counting. At the end of the handout, students must develop their math and writing skills, as they are asked to find certain icons and write how many there are. The story also includes many sight words.
I hope you enjoy it. Feedback is always welcome!
