Students will read a brief informational text about ethnobotany and how its practice influenced Native American cultures. Students will use a coordinate grid to find the common name of plants historically used for medicinal purposes.

Enrichment: use the internet to find a picture of each of the plants described in the text. Students will research how plants impact the field of medicine and pharmacology.

Students will write an essay on what can be done to make sure that the threatened and endangered medicinal plants will be here in the future.
