This study guide allows students to practice skills and concepts that will be assessed on the grade 5 end of module 2 assessment in the Eureka Math curriculum. All problem types on the assessment are reviewed here. I reviewed half of this study guide with my students during class time then assigned the rest of the problems (same types we had reviewed) for homework to guide their studying. This guide also clarifies some direction words that may confuse the students on the assessment. Sentence frames are provided for problems that require explanation. Blanks are created for answers to be written on.
Problem types included are multiplying/dividing numbers by powers of 10 expressed as exponents (4), finding a missing divisor and expressing it using exponents (4), using compatible numbers to estimate a quotient (2), creating/solving original division problems when given a quotient and a remainder (2), changing remainders into decimals in a quotient (4), finding length or width when given the area of an object then calculating the perimeter (2), and a 5-part word problem that assesses multiplying, dividing, and converting customary units (1).
The product also includes a text box to prompt students' thinking about complex, multi-step word problems:
1. Read all parts for the gist.
2. Do a close read of all parts.
3. Record important information.
4. Draw a diagram to show this information.
5. Look for clue words that help you decide what you need to calculate.
6. Solve all parts of the problem.
7. Check to determine if your answer is reasonable.
This product is a Word document to allow for editing and personalization. Page 6 of the document is the answer key.
All problems in this study guide are original work. Eureka Math is a product of Expeditionary Learning and may be accessed for free online. I will create and share more study guides for this curriculum as I make them (study guide for the next two tests, mid-module and end of module 3 are available now on my store), and in the future I will offer a bundle price for the purchase of multiple study guides.
