Hi and thanks for looking at this European Artists: Monet, Picasso and Mondrian lesson bundle! The 6-lesson unit is based on the history of art. Children will learn about who the artists were, where they grew up and what influenced their style alongside trying to replicate some of each artist’s work. The unit also has elements of geography and computing skills.
There are six lessons in this bundle which should take around 1 1/2 -2 hours to complete each (this will be dependent on the amount of time you give for the activity/painting part of the lesson). Each lessons is set out with a focus, introduction, input, activity, plenary and a resource list so with a little printing, you should be ready to go.
The six lessons are:
~Claude Monet - his life, impressionism and painting with acrylics
~Claude Monet - perfecting his technique to make a version of 'water lilies'.
~Pablo Picasso - his life, cubism and creating a Picasso style face using oil pastels or wax crayons
~Pablo Picasso - cubism and creating another face using collage.
~Piet Mondrian - his life, abstract art and creating your own using poster paints
~Digital art - creating a Picasso style head and Mondrian style painting using digital techniques plus an end of unit evaluation.
These lessons are driven by the accompanying PowerPoint file - the zip files contains a .ppt (older version) and .pptx (newer version ) file and so should be compatible. Please make sure you'll be able to run these files and display them to a class before purchasing the item. The final lesson in the series involves creating digital art so children will need access to laptops or tablets to complete. Again, please check this will be suitable for the resources you have available.
I really hope you find this lesson bundle time-saving and useful and that your class enjoy learning about famous artists. My class certainly did as part of our 'Europe' topic.
Feel free to check out my other items too!
Thank you and enjoy,
