This collaborative lesson focuses on ten European explorers. Students will cooperatively manipulate the task cards in order to identify the explorer and corresponding discovery. A graphic organizer and summative assessment is also included.

Explorer Task Cards:
20 full-color task cards are included in this set. Students will use the task cards to match the following explorers with their discovery:
Bartolomeu Dias, Christopher Columbus, John Cabot, Vasco Da Gama, Vasco de Balboa, Juan Ponce de Leon, Ferdinand Magellan, Hernan Cortes, Sir Francis Drake, and Henry Hudson. Printing the task cards on card stock and/or laminating before use is recommended.
A graphic organizer is provided for students to complete after matching each explorer with the corresponding discovery.
Age of Exploration Assessment:
The formative assessment requires students to match each explorer with the correct discovery. The assessment is based on the information gained from using the task cards.
An answer key is provided for use with a substitute or student teacher.
