Looking for an interactive way to assess student understanding and challenge their puzzle skills?
This activity is designed to help you, the teacher, assess student understanding of the order of operations. Students then use their answers to fill in some blanks on a "number puzzle". Similar to a crossword puzzle, students must arrange numbers of various length in particular way to ensure they all fit.
This can be used as homework, but I like to use it with math centers. In one center they complete the math and in the next center they work on their number puzzle. Students can check their work when they see if their answers are in the number puzzle.
