Evaluating Expressions Mystery Activity!
Use the clue cards to calculate the missing numbers in the grid.
The top row adds up to 2(xz + 1);
The number below 6 is 10 - (x + 3)
There are four worksheets in this pack, of increasing difficulty:
Level 1: Evaluate simple expressions like 3x + 5 using positive numbers
Level 2: Evaluate positive and negative numbers in simple expressions
Level 3: Evaluate expressions involving brackets, exponents and negative numbers
Level 4: Larger grid, more difficult clues, requires more logic.
As an extension, students could make up their own mystery activity on expressions.
This activity is good for homework as it is easy to check students have answered all the questions correctly at a glance.
