Some one has killed Mr. Line and the students must evaluate functions to find the guilty person! The students must evaluate four different functions for various values of x and use these to help solve the mystery. There are eight different forms of this activity (answer keys included) so that students in your last class won't already know the answer! This is best used as a follow up to a lesson taught over evaluating functions in function notation. After students determine the value of each function, they eliminate suspects, places, and murder weapons to determine who killed Mr. Line and where and how it happened.
