PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson introduces students to a fictional disease (called Fever 13) making its deadly way across the United States. Students are charged with working in groups to read information about diseases that are similar to the fever (typhoid and cholera) and using this information to create an action plan to stem the spread of the disease.

This lesson uses a variety of nonfiction resources, including an excerpt from Angela's Ashes, and three nonfiction articles, which students will evaluate and synthesize to help them create their action plan. All resources are provided.
