Its easy to grade a test but how do you grade a unit study, hands-on project, lapbooking, notebooking or any other method of learning that isn't a fill-in-the-bubble test? With an evaluation sheet!!! My kids actually like using these and being graded for their work. If they know they will be graded and certain standards need to be met then they are more inclined to do their best. It is also a great culminating activity, Its like -the moment we've all been waiting for- sort of feeling. I have found that my kids are a bit hard on themselves when they fill out the self-evaluation. Its fun to see how they view their project and how they grade their "peer" (sibling in some cases).
