This graphic organizer handout and student worksheet is a simple yet reliable way for students to determine the reliability/credibility of the websites they are using for research.
This is appropriate for all subject areas, and can be used for various age levels.
The students are given several prompts to use as a guide, and each prompt includes a check box next to it that students can fill in as they go along. There is also a student worksheet for students to insert the website, and to then elaborate on how they determined that the website was credible. The handout will assist the students in filling out the student worksheet.
The students are asked to evaluate the website, the author, and the information.
A few sample prompts include:
What is the domain? Look at the URL for hints about what kind of website you’re using.
Is it easy to navigate? A reliable website will be well organized and information will be easy to find.
In addition, this product includes a link to make an editable copy in Google Slides of the student worksheet portion. Any pages with Clip-Art will be removed in the editable copy to protect the Clip-Artist's TOU.
