Scoot is a great game to play to review concepts, introduce concepts, and can even be used as a pre-or post-test. I recommend using this game to see if students understand what an even or odd number is before asking them to explain how they know a number is even or odd. The rules are simple:
1. Cut out the 24 task cards
2. Place each task card around the room in order. I suggest putting them in a place where students can move quickly from one to the next.
3. Students carry the recording sheet with them to each task card and record their answer to each card. They write their answer to each card to the corresponding number on the recording sheet.
4. When the teacher says “Scoot!” each player moves to the next card
5 The game is over when each player has gone to each card.
The game can, of course, be shortened to accommodate any lesser of students.
For your convenience, answer sheet has been included! This can be used to quickly check student work.
