The events leading to the Civil War are important ones. there are a number of reasons that lead to this war, but the most important ones have been categorized and are highlighted in the product. This product is meant to be a followup to group presentations, reading in the text, or a power point presentation.
In my classroom the students were given a category and made poster mobiles based on each category. As they presented the rest of the class jotted down the ideas under the appropriate subheading.

-War with Mexico
-Formation of political parties
Each category is filled with a number of subcategories and I left space at the bottom for you or the students to add their own!
-Cut out the pockets and glue the edges (excluding the top edge) to a piece of paper
-Cut out the strips
-Have students fill out the slips by making presentations based on each strip, looking in their book, or after viewing a power point presentation
-Place colonies in the correct pockets
