Product Description
Use this social studies product to help your students prepare for Common Core assessments, like TNReady!

Students will identify seven events that made slavery a national issue and eventually led to the Civil War: the Missouri Compromise, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, the Compromise of 1850, Brook’s Attack on Sumner, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, John Brown’s Raid, and the Dred Scott case. This task can be completed with guided notes. In addition, students will have the opportunity to analyze excerpts from primary sources related to some of the events. Also, a set of sorting cards is included for students to practice recalling the content knowledge. Finally, there is a constructed response essay that requires students to compile their knowledge.
