This group project will get students moving and interacting with each other as well as internalizing the content of the Texas Revolution. They will create a timeline flow map and large-scale map using the resources you provide (textbook, notebook, handouts, or internet).
This project will take about two to three days at the end of your unit on the Texas Revolution and is an excellent mastery assignment. This assignment will have students reading social studies text, transferring information from one media to another, sequencing events, creating symbolic representations of events, creating a thematic map, and using social studies terminology. This one project will allow your students to practice many social studies skills and allow you to cover many required standards.
The best part? The students do most of the work, so they receive the benefit of increased learning! Rubric is included to simplify grading, or you can use your own. The file for this assignment is in Word so it is editable to meet your classroom needs.
