Description

Encourage good citizenship as students learn things that they can do to help the environment. Kids enjoy playing this matching (Concentration) game.

Twenty pairs of cards consisting of matching text and picture cards with actions such as:
- turn off the water while brushing your teeth
- use both sides of your paper
- ride your bike or walk places
- turn off the lights when you leave a room
- use a refillable water bottle
and 15 more.

In Greenhouse Gases and Carbon Footprints, students calculate their carbon footprints and then determine mean, median, and mode for the class and create histograms.
Surface Area, Best Buy, and Precycling is a lesson in which students determine which size cereal package has the most efficient packaging and costs the least per unit.
Scientific Notation and Water Conservation is a mini-lesson on water usage and ways in which water can be conserved, with optional math problems involving use of scientific notation.
The Costs of Bottled Water encourages the choice of reusable water bottles and cups through education.
In Data Collection, Graphing, and Analysis of Vehicle Idling, students collect data on vehicle idling around the school, graph and analyze the data, and learn why vehicle idling is harmful to the environment.
In The Benefits of Trees with Coordinate Grid Activity, students learn about the importance of trees in our neighborhoods and use a coordinate grid to place plantings around a house to achieve energy efficiency.
