This is a very comprehensive packet for your students.
It includes 40 days (80 pages) of daily practice for Language Arts and Math (1 page for each). Every single page is different and progresses gradually in skill level.
The concepts/skills covered in this packet are aligned with the common core for both Math and ELA.
The skills are repeated heavily because I have noticed a trend on NWEA tests are students struggle with number sense, telling time, rhyming, and editing sentences.
These are great to project on your smartboard (or other device) and go through them with students at the end of the day.
They also allow teacher decisions for each page. On the Daily Language Practice you will need to write a sentence that needs to be fixed. You will also need to write sight words for the students to copy (or you can have them choose from the word wall). For the Daily Math portion the teacher will need to choose the number of the day (or it can be the number of days in school etc...). You will also need an estimation jar. For my estimation jar I use a balance/scale. On one side is that days estimation (I usually place value cubes) and on the other side is yesterday's estimation. That way they can compare to yesterdays and determine if it will be a bigger or smaller number (great for critical thinking!).
***I teach 1st grade in a low-income, 90% ELL school. I began using this packet in January 2012 and it lasted through the end of the school year. If you are in a more affluent neighborhood you may be able to begin using it at the beginning of first grade. Or it could even be used in 2nd grade to reinforce skills (or for students who need extra support in math/language practice). I've even had friends use it in Kindergarten.
If your copier has a double staple feature that is the best way to make this packet for your students. I found that the number of pages (when printed double sided) hold together well when using the double staple feature.
