This carnival project is to be used after teaching Unit 7 of Everyday Math Grade 4. The project bundle includes instructions, grading rubrics for carnival games, extra probability work, and student examples of games. Students combine understanding of probability with problem-solving skills to create a real-life situation in which they are creating, promoting, and running their own carnival game in order to raise money for the classroom, individual, or outreach group. Though this project is intended for use with Everyday Math Grade 4, Unit 7, the concepts discussed and challenges within this project could extend through 7th grade students, and also aligns better to the grade 6 and 7 CCSS.
