Product Description
This presentation contains a 45 slide PowerPoint lesson in editable PPT format with 3 work papers that accompany the lesson.
It includes:

- A discussion about the benefits of children growing up with pets and I threw in some info About puppy mills (just to keep it educational).
- The scientific research information to back up the slides is in the ‘note’ part of each slide.
- In the activity part, the students are divided into two groups, one group is the shelter committee and the other is the adopters- taking turns representing their case for taking a pet home.
The lesson gets funny when the students find out that ‘the colorful pets up for adoption in the shelter’ are chosen from national Geographic’s list of ‘new species discovered around the world’, They’re as far as you could possibly get from ‘an adorable puppy’.
* I always get the best, most passionate arguments when they’re arguing for something that they wouldn’t, in a million years, bring into their house (or touch with a ten foot pole…).
With the second part of this lesson, you have the option to screen the adoption with the power point to the whole class, for the group discussion, or, print the cards and hand them out, for individual, couple work.
Included:
- a printout with regulations and questions.
- A cutout animal photos of the animals for adoption – for the adopter
- A cutout of the animals with information on them, for the shelter worker (s)

I hope you enjoy this lesson
