These activities are ready to copy and go, without need for the sub to read lengthy directions. Explanations for students and for the sub are incorporated as scripts which headline some but not all worksheets. The only equipment your sub needs is a copy machine; the only supplies your kids need are pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue.
Activities - all connected to the number 2 and being "Super Second Graders" - included in this file for your substitute teacher (or for your own teaching practice): morning and afternoon "messages" to be used for "get acquainted" and "end of the day" group discussion; fiction and non-fiction reader response forms for independent reading time; practice adding two digit (no regrouping) computations and matching answers to coloring page; practice ordinal numbers (first, second) while coloring string of beads; practice emergent understanding of fractional parts while finding 2 halves to make a whole; reading, drawing, and writing sentences using compound words; making 2 same and 2 different (contrasting) observations about living organisms; reading and writing about traditional holidays (including a reading comprehension piece on Groundhog Day Feb. 2nd); graphic organizer to help plan writing sentences about 2 favorite holidays;
vocabulary extension games to review all concepts of the day.

It's a full day of activities that includes scripts for the sub teacher, an activities grid that incorporates ideas for variations and aligned with common core grad standards.
