Product Description
This is a powerpoint to introduce (or refresh) students to Common Core Evidence Based Claims. I start this activity off with the so what prompt "can fact and opinion be the same?" and let students discuss that. I then ask them who is the villain in the Three Little Pigs story then show them a great video clip from the UK paper, The Guardian about the "real" villain! It's a great video to spur debate and perspective. Next students begin to get comfortable with fact & opinion through various other debatable prompts before they group up into the EBC activity. The activity prompt at the ends is intended for higher level students but can be changed for any range of learning levels. I have included directions, EBC chart and suggested articles for students to use for research (articles for the honors/AP level). Thanks for looking!
