The presentation is designed for the first week of school as an introduction to conducting science experiments. Topics include: scientific theories, laws, hypothesis, scientific method, observations, qualitative and quantitative data, empirical evidence, precision, accuracy, communication in science, independent vs. dependent variables, constants and controls. In addition, there is are two practice test questions at the end and a manipulative activity to be done as a "closer" and review of concepts. This will take an entire class period to complete and maybe longer. There is also a "fill in the blank" style set of notes that accompany this presentation, available separately, to keep your students engaged in the lesson. Have fun!
