Google Classroom Users: Help your students 1) interpret questions with increased accuracy, 2) determine the difference between evidence vs details, 3) determine best text evidence, 4) determine the best two text evidence, and 5) construct a response. This product has both digital and paper components for minimal teacher preparation and highly engaging learning.
Something we all do as teachers is identify a gap in our students’ learning and then adapt our plans in order to meet their needs. In this case, too often we assume that students can tell the difference between evidence that supports an answer verses a general detail from the text. We started to notice that our kids were pulling random information from the text that didn’t actually support their answer at all. We also found that by starting with analyzing the question, we were able to eliminate a lot of the misinterpretations that students often form before they even get to text! With high stakes testing always on our minds, this product is highly effective at giving our students a very interactive experience into the heart of a constructed response.

Punctuation Sort + Worksheets: 2 Levels
With this Quotation Marks Sort, students are provided a more hands-on learning experience as they get the opportunity to manipulate the punctuation marks and insert them into the text evidence and dialogue in the appropriate places. We provide 2 levels for differentiation. Both levels have proven to be effective for our students for either 1) reviewing where to place quotation marks, commas, and periods, or 2) introducing the concept of how to use double and single quotation marks.
*This product works best in a 1:1 technology ratio classroom set-up.*
