In this technology-based evolution activity, students will work independently to move around the classroom to learn about patterns of evolution and scientific evidence for evolution. QR codes are incorporated in each station to allow students to easily access the videos and articles onto their personal devices in order to then answer the questions. Links to all sources are included, in addition to the QR codes, for students who choose to work on a laptop. Topics covered include: convergent evolution, gradualism, punctuated equilibrium, speciation, evidence for evolution (from the fields of anatomy, paleontology, biochemistry, and biogeography), and common evolutionary myths and misconceptions. Editable station cards are included for you to customize for your classroom, if needed. This can function as a guided inquiry activity to introduce patterns of evolution and evidence of evolution after having covered an introduction to evolution and the principles of natural selection, or as a follow-up activity after discussing patterns and evidence in lecture.

Why should I use this product in my classroom?
I love lab stations as a way for students to productively use technology as well as work autonomously in the classroom. Students get out of their seats and have the opportunity to use their beloved technology in a meaningful way. I love these lab stations in particular due to the way they make the content of evolution relevant to students and also address a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings students have regarding evolution, as it plays out in their lives. These stations are relatable to their everyday lives, making it engaging and interesting for students.
