This lesson plan delves into the topic of evolution with a case study of the Archeopteryx. Students will learn more about vocabulary terms discussed in an evolution unit by studying this ancient species. Learn about using fossils to learn about what the world was like long ago. Activities include warm up, exit slip, lecture, reading, and discussion.
It is great if you have a model of of fossilized archeopteryx to go along with this lesson, but a simple google image search should give you a good picture to show the class, too.
This is a fun topic that I have enjoyed teaching to high school students, college bio 101 students, and young children on a museum tour.
Happy teaching! Please send me your thoughts on this lesson, I would love to hear your feedback!
