This 7 page reading and writing activity is designed for upper level biology students. It examines some examples of natural selection in modern times including emergent diseases and Grant's recent observations with beak size changes with ground finches in the Galapagos Islands. Questions requiring the students to comprehend the reading passages are interspersed within this activity. This activity is suitable for independent reading and writing reinforcement work relating to natural selection and is suited as an activity that could be left providing a useful learning activity with a substitute instructor.
