Evolution is alive and well- and antibiotic resistance is the perfect way to explore and explain natural selection at work.

Engage students with this interactive discussion- although you're using a slideshow, it's NOT a straight up lecture. Students will be asked to discuss, summarize, apply, research- and you can easily scale the mini-activities to meet the needs of the students in your classroom.

A few YouTube videos are embedded throughout the slideshow (including a 10-minute Ted Talk that is vital to the discussion/activities).

I have the slideshow set up to split the content into two class periods. The first class period will take most teachers around 45 minutes, with a short homework assignment given for the next day. The second class period does not have as much content attached (it might take 15-20 minutes). I designed it this way to provide a springboard, so you can take the information further. In the "speaker notes" section, I provide some ideas for what you can do....or you could just end there, and choose to move on to a new topic.
