This activity is highly adaptable. I have used this worksheet to help my students learn evolution. The vocabulary can be difficult to grasp. By using this worksheet it helps the students to visualize the terms. It can be used as a quiz. I had the students write out the definition in their own words, then switched papers and had the students correct the papers. They would write in the textbook definition for each word and then see how close the student got to the actual definition. Its all about repetition. The more they see and use the terms the more they learn them. Other instances, I have used it as a warmup activity. The worksheet also lends itself really well to being a foldable. A foldable is a study aid that is particularly helpful with vocabulary terms. The students can fold the sheet into a accordion. Cut along the horizontal table lines to create flaps. Then they can use the resulting foldable to study for tests and quizzes. I have also modified it so that the students have to draw the pics as well as write the definition in their own words. This activity can be differentiated for different levels as well. Any further questions or ideas on how to modify please feel free to contact me.
