First off, this is NOT a typical PowerPoint that simply lists main idea bullets. This is an interactive tutorial using engaging pictures, animations, and questions that require student input in order to proceed.
This tutorial will guide students through the process of evolution by natural selection. The tutorial begins by taking readers through an introduction of Charles Darwin and his voyage on-board the HMS Beagle. Next, the tutorial will guide students thought the principles of natural selection and concludes using antibiotic resistance as a real world example. This tutorial consists of 158 slides full of engaging images and animations to assist with student learning. The tutorial culminates with a 10 question post-quiz to check for understanding.
When I use these in my classroom, I will reserve my class to visit the computer lab so each student can sit at a computer and work at their own pace. I have burned this tutorial onto a class set of 30 CD’s that I hand to my students when we arrive at the computer lab. When they finish working, they simply turn in their worksheet and return the CD.
