This comprehensive 50 point summative assessment is made up of five parts:
Vocabulary production (12 points): Students fill in the sentences with pictures using a word bank. Must conjugate all verbs in the imperfect.
Setting the scene (10 points): Students read the first section of a story, and use the imperfect to complete cloze sentences. All irregular verbs are in bold. (Ser and Ir)
The main event (10 points): Students read about the main action of the story, and complete cloze sentences with preterite verbs. Contains the irregular verb 'ir'.
P V I (10 points): Students read sentences in English and decide whether to use the preterite or imperfect.
Reading comprehension (8 points): Students read two reviews from Argentina regarding companies that specialize in parties. One review is predominantly about one event, and the other is about a place where the reviewer used to go (think Chuk-e-cheese) for parties. Students then answer questions about the passages designed to test their understanding of when to use Preterite or Imperfect.
See preview for samples of each section. I am also posting a differentiated version.
