This reading activity is a worksheet for the classical literature of Aesop's Fables. Students will read three fables and use a graphic organizer to answer comprehension questions and identify unfamiliar vocabulary. The three fables chosen convey good character lessons of responsibility, teamwork/unity, and honesty. A short history paragraph is included to introduce students to Aesop, the Greek slave, better known as "the greatest storyteller." I am presently using this in my third grade classroom during the whole book reading of Aesop's Fables, but it could be used in 2nd-5th grade depending on the student's reading level. The interest level is universal. It could also be used as a jumping off point for cooperative learning groups to explore other fables.
