PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In this activity, students watch the clip from Ukraine's Got Talent and answer questions in groups about Simonova's art. The performance is moving and engaging; I use this activity at the start of the unit before students even choose which book (A Thousand Splendid Suns or The Kite Runner) they will read for the unit. Students often ask to watch the video a second time because it is so moving.

The discussion leads into the unit for Hosseini's work, but this activity is also an interesting and different way to discuss art, war, and/or the human experience.
