What allows for a species to evolve?
This is a critical thinking activity that allows students to generate an outline for evolution of a species from a current status to a new species based on laws of natural and sexual selection. It provides a means for greater understanding for the means of evolution to take place and then of geological time that is needed for the process to occur over. It can used as synthesis project following lessons on the evolutionary process, and also serves as means to allow for outside of class research (internet based) that should assist the students with development of library research skills. Given the multitude of options, students can use this also a group learning exercise and examine how dissimilar animals might evolve from similar common ancestor species.
