In this note-taking exercise, students are required to explain how President Truman attempted to tailor his foreign policy in such a way that would steer the United States safely through the early years of the Cold War.
The following topics are addressed:
1. The Atomic Bomb, 1945;
2. Iron Curtain Speech, 1946;
3. Truman Doctrine, 1947;
4. Marshall Plan, 1948;
5. Berlin Airlift, 1948 to 1949; and,
6. Korean War, 1950.
At the bottom of the exercise is a list of commonly used sources (i.e., textbooks), which should make for easy reference.
