It's past time to shift history tests from rote memorization to Common Core- aligned opportunities for critical thinking, synthesis, and argumentation! When students are given the opportunity to improve their argumentative writing skills using historical content, their mastery of the writing standards will improve rapidly. Why not use the content you've covered in class as the evidence to major, important historical questions?
This is no ordinary exam. Rather, students will answer 2 Essential Questions: one unit EQ, and one smaller scope EQ. All EQs are from my free US History Thematic Curriculum Map (Unit 2) based off the California Framework.
All questions are centered around the main topics for this unit: the President's job, the Presidency changing over time, & how to determine if a president is "good" or not.
And the best part is that everything is completely editable in MS Word, so if you'd like to add or remove a question, or edit the assignment to answering fewer or more EQs, the options are endless!
