Ready to get your students buzzing about your Executive Branch unit? Looking to activate their prior knowledge while having fun and discussing random fun facts about the Presidents? Then this introduction to the American Presidents lesson is for you!
Students begin with an Essential Question and then a written Warm Up and opening brainstorm activity to get their prior knowledge flowing. Then, they'll unscramble the Presidents to put them in order compared to their dates in office. Next, students will brainstorm what they know about each president on their own, and later with partners. When you get to the class discussion, feel free to throw in fun facts you know about each president. I love hearing students say "oh, is he the one who...?" as they remember what they've learned in the past. The lesson ends with a brief reflection.
