Product Description
One of my favorite ways to use task cards is by playing a competition style of SCOOT!  SCOOT is fun and easy. The kids love getting up and moving around the room.
You will get a set of numbered task cards. One per student in your class. SCOOT is a fast paced game. Students will need a recording sheet to keep track of their answers (included).
Remind students that this is a friendly competition 

Place one task card on each desk in numerical order. Make sure students know where the first and the last card are. After every 30 second or 1 minute interval say “SCOOT”. Students then move to a new location with a new task card. You can ring a bell, set a timer or create some sort of signal to signify moving from one card to the next.
Students complete the card on their desk and write their answer in the correct question number on their recording sheet.
When the teacher says “SCOOT” students leave the card at their desk and take their recording sheet with them to next seat.
You be the judge of your students. Sometimes I do this activity with 30 second SCOOTS.
The game is played SILENT!!
Of course you can change the rules! You could have students work with a partner. You can create the order in which they see the task cards or you could let them do it randomly. I personally like to hang the cards around the room and have them do a gallery-walk type of competition.
No, you do not have to set a timer. Sometimes SCOOT works best when they can work at their own pace. You know what’s best for your classroom.
Each task card has a numerical value for every answer. Students are to write the numerical value on their recording sheet.
When they have answered every question have them total up their points.
To keep kids honest, I have them write their initials and total score on the board. When everyone has put their score on the board, then we go over the answers. This way no one can change their answers (keeps them honest).
The winner is the student who came up with the exact final total from the answer key (or closest to it). Sure they may reach the total by getting some questions wrong, but it’s all fun and games. The idea is to have them engaged, wanting to answer the questions and moving around the room.
