This lab utilizes bromothymol blue as an indicator of rates of cellular respiration. Students exhale into bromothymol blue solution and time how long it takes for the solution to change color. Students will compare this time against the time it take for the solution to change after exercise. At the end of the lab, there is a section for students to design and implement their own experiment. This lab is good for an anatomy study in exercise physiology as well as the study of cellular respiration in biology and AP Biology.
