Product Description
I use this activity as a followup to my existential and nihilist powerpoints in Eng III. We watch "The Killing Joke" cartoon movie as a primer before we delve into texts. I find students are able to relate to these themes better though familiar superhero archetypes. I start the movie at about 30 min, after the Batgirl intro (it serves no purpose). We stop at the movie times posted, and I allow students a few minutes to discuss with me as a class and respond. Some movie times are not exact (within a few seconds), but the scenes are obvious.

WARNING: "The Killing Joke" contains mature scenes for a cartoon. I have listed several suggested skip times, but you MUST preview the film first and adjust to the maturity of your class, and some scenes are NOT appropriate (I have listed the major ones).

That being said, it is an EXCELLENT tool for teaching these complex subjects, and students are always 100% engaged.
