Students use these exit tickets as they are leaving the classroom for the day or for the next class period! These are great tools to gauge students' understanding of the task at hand formatively. There are three options for the students to check in regards to their learning for a particular day or class period. They may check “one thing they learned,” “one question they still have,” and/or “something they still need to know.” Next, there are blanks for them to elaborate based on which box they checked. Next, there is a space for the students to write the most important thing that they feel they have learned about the lesson at hand. They also have the opportunity to state how what they have learned will benefit them in their life. Of course we all understand the importance of establishing relevance with millennial learners!
