Expanded Form or Number Name ~ Roll and Write Game
This game is designed to help students practice writing numbers in expanded form and as number names (written form).
Students roll a die to determine whether to write each number in expanded or written form (number name). I find that this simple activity makes practice/reinforcement fun for students. This file includes:
★ Two practice sheets working with two digit numbers
★ Two practice sheets working with up to three digit numbers
★ Two practice sheets working with up to four digit numbers
★ Two practice sheets working with up to five digit numbers
★ A template for a die
The format of each sheet remains the same, so once kids understand the activity they can focus on mastering the skill at hand.
When used during whole group instruction, this activity keeps kids from racing ahead, as they need to wait and see which form they will be writing each number in.
For individual practice, each student can be given a die to roll. Their answers will be different, even if you give each student the same sheet. For this reason, I find this activity handy as a simple in-class assessment.
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look!
