These Expanded Form Place Value Mystery Pictures help reinforce place value. Your kiddos will read and write base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form in these 4 puzzles with a school theme. Students will fill in the blanks on the Clues printable, then draw the lines shown in the clue into the corresponding square in their graph. To locate a particular square, they’ll refer the Tens and Ones on the grid.
Self-checking: when the clues have been solved correctly, an apple, pencil, owl, or school bus will appear. When the picture is complete, students can add color so each picture will be unique. Great for math centers or fast finishers!
Aligned with this Common Core math standard:CCSS.Math.Content.2.NBT.A.3 Understand place value: Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
The puzzles go up to 99 and have approximately thirty clues. Two of them use Base-ten Numerals for the grid coordinates while two use Number Names. Suitable for First, Second, and Third grades and any students that need review of place value. See the thumbnails and download the Preview for more information.
