In this unit, students begin to learn about expanding and factorising expressions. The unit begins with work on expanding brackets, and students will learn to multiply a single bracket by a constant, then by a variable, and then to expand and simplify multiple single brackets. Students will then be introduced to making mathematical arguments and proving that expressions are equivalent, before factorising expressions into single brackets, bringing constants, variables, and sometimes both outside their bracket.
