To use as a scavenger hunt, place the Expanding Sentences Scavenger Hunt task cards around the room in various locations. Without moving the cards, students must hunt for the cards and record their expanded sentences on their recording sheets. They might work independently or with a partner.
Once the Scavenger Hunt has ended, have your students share their expanded sentences in groups and work to build upon each other’s sentences. Then, have groups rearrange the order of their sentences using the activity sheet in this product. This activity might take one day to a few days depending upon the follow-up activities given to the students. There's tons of flexibility with this writing activity of expanding sentences.
Lastly, you might have your students work in groups on a shared writing activity. Have students agree upon a sentence that they want to expand into a short narrative.
