This product will support you in creating an experience for the sounds of OI & OY with your students. Through reading The Story of The Boy and his Favorite Toy students will learn that OI & OY make the same sound as in /oy/ at the end of "toy" and /oi/ at the beginning of "oink." Using the idea of a boy visiting his grandmother's farm and the only animal who will play with him and is toy is the pigs who say "oink" students will have an experience to visualize the sounds OI & OY make.
After creating this experience for your students they may practice creating their own OI & OY words using the Word Work Mat which includes clip art from the story to assist recall of the sound pattern. Games for literacy centers are also included so students can independently practice reading OI & OY words in a fun way.
