This investigation uses the scientific method to answer the question:

Does the amount of rooting hormone affect the length of the roots when cloning?

This investigation meets the K-2nd grade *Next Generation Science Standards: Science and Engineering practices and 1st grade From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes. While investigating cloning in plants students will learn the parts of an investigation. They will compose a hypothesis, record observations and measurements, graph their data, and write a conclusion. By the end of the investigation students should be able to explain that rooting hormone helps roots grow faster and healthier. This investigation is part of a series. The investigation is also available for 2/3 and 4/5. The K-1st grade journal focuses on with or without rooting hormone. The 2nd-3rd grade journal focuses on the amount of rooting hormone and students do 3 tests. The 4th-5th grade journal focus on the same concept as the 2nd-3rd grade journal, but students will do 3 trials of each and calculate the average. The grade level adjustments make it a great way for a homeschool class to teach the same concept to multiple ages. It also is great for science fairs. Journal is available in a bundle discount as well.
