Sure, your students can explain the forces of gravity, friction, and magnetism inside and out. But can they identify which of these forces is being tested in an experiment? Can they articulate the difference between independent and dependent variables? Can they justify the need for repeated time trials?
Experimental design questions are notoriously difficult for elementary school students. Use this activity for students to thoroughly practice these concepts before the big test. This powerpoint presentation can be done with the whole group, as homework, or in a station.
